Steamforged Games' partnership with Jagex is the most recent in a long string cooperations that brings several of the biggest franchises in gaming into a tabletop setting. Steamforged Games OSRS Gold, a tabletop gaming giant, has previously created board games based on the series like Monster Hunter World and Dark Souls and has recently concluded a massively successful Kickstarter campaign for a Resident Evil 2 board game that raised more than 1 million GBP earlier in the year.
The developer has set its sights on Gielinor's world and RuneScape with plans to launch the board game and the core book for the tabletop RPG this year. The two RPG versions will feature a variety of the most well-known characters from RuneScape and places, allowing groups of five or more players to challenge classic quests from RuneScape while bringing adventure within the world of Gielinor home.
Players can create and upgrade equipment, communicate with NPCs, and take on a variety of side quests which are based on this classic MMORPG. The board game is scheduled to launch through a Kickstarter campaign later in the year, while the tabletop RPG book is set to be available in retail stores.
The tabletop core book RPGs will also be compatible with massive tabletop RPG Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition core books, allowing the dungeon masters to seamlessly incorporate elements from RuneScape into their campaigns.
Jagex CEO Phil Mansell was optimistic about the project , expressing his excitement about Kickstarter. He expressed his excitement over the Kickstarter initiative "involving the RuneScape players," as Steamforged CCO Mat Hart believed the "rich RuneScape universe will translate beautifully" into a tabletop setting.
RuneScape has been expanding significantly from its web-based predecessors in recent years , with Steamforged's boardgame being the most recent game from Jagex. In an interview with the media, several Jagex employees talked about the idea of transitioning Runescape's mobile version to an all-platform version and in September Buy RuneScape Gold, it was announced that the game would be cross-platform.
